Trip overview
In this 15 days gorillas and wildlife safari, three regions of Uganda will be visited; the north, west, and northeast. You will get to uncover the Ugandan culture; experience unmatched hospitality, Experience difference in weather, and uncover the unique flora and fauna. Uganda is in East Africa, and one of the safest safari destinations. In the West, visit Queen Elizabeth national park for boat cruise and game drive; Kalinzu forest for chimpanzee trekking; Kibale forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking, and Bwindi impenetrable national park for Gorilla trekking; Lake Mburo National park for walking safari and boat cruise.
In Nakasongola and northwest, track southern white Rhinos in Ziwa rhino sanctuary, you will do game drive and boat cruise at Murchison Fall national park; the oldest and largest national park in Uganda. IN the north; you will dance to the chants of the Karamojongs; hike Lonyili rock, visit the hot springs and game drive at Kidepo valley national park. This tour starts and ends at Entebbe international airport.
Detailed Trip
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport and Transfer to Your Hotel
Upon landing at Entebbe International airport; you will clear with the immigration authorities, and thereafter meet our company representative who will introduce you to the pearl of Africa for the 15 days tour.
There will be a quick talk of how the trip will run, and thereafter, a transfer to your lodge around Entebbe for a rest. Entebbe in itself is a great destination, with the longest fresh water lake in Africa-Lake Victoria; exotic beaches, and attractions. Taking a tour around can be a good starter of your Ugandan experience. A yummy meal for the day, dinner and a sweet slumber marks this day’s success.
Day2: Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
First thing this day is a Ugandan coffee. Afterword, you will check-out of the lodge for a 4-5 hour scenic drive to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary in Nakasongola district to Track the over 33 white and black Rhinos in the sanctuary. These were originally rescued from the wild, with others orphaned. The conservation efforts have facilitated there increase and popularity, with this being the only place to track them. The route to the sanctuary is with busy trading centers, and lush plantations. You will have Lunch in Nakasongola, and thereafter go to the sanctuary for a one hour Rhino tracking, with the guide explaining the facts about this members of the Big 5 family. Rhino weighs about 3080-7920 pounds, live in long and short savannah pasture, are called bulls and cows but have poor visions. After the tracking session, you will proceed to the lodge for check-in, dinner and a nap.
Day3: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park-Evening Wildlife Viewing
Start this morning with a lip-smacking cup of coffee, and thereafter hit the road on a 6-8 hour remarkable drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. Whereas Kidepo valley is the most isolated savannah park in Uganda, it is with one of the most eye-catching scenery In Africa, large population of animals, and a variety of fauna. Lunch will be enroute, as you proceed with endless views of the distant mountain back drops; Karamojong people, dotted homesteads, bust towns and lush plantations. It is an escape to a true wilderness of Africa. At sunset, you will arrive and check-in at the lodge, have dinner, and a peaceful nap.
Day4: Morning Game drive and Karamojong Community Walk
Have breakfast very early in the morning, and thereafter head-out for a 4-5 hour game drive through the Narus Valley with the permanent Narus river; attracting a large concentration of prey and predators. The commonly seen animals are; The African elephants, cape Buffalos, bush back, elands, bush duiker, jackal, giraffes, Uganda Kobs, waterbuck, warthogs, topis, hippos and more grazers. Present yet rare to see include; hyenas, lions, leopards, ostriches, dik dik, reedbuck, and cheetahs. The rare plants in these deserted wilderness are; acacia, savannah woodland, borussas palms, Themeda, panicum, chloris and Seteria.
After game drive, you will have a Lunch break, and followed by a visit to the Karamojong communities for a thrilling cultural exchange, dance and village walk. The Karamojong have still held to their ancestral cultural, and will take guests around the community to manyattas, crawls, and village circle for dance and songs. End this day with dinner and a peaceful nap at the lodge.
Day5: Another Day in Kidepo Valley NP-Hot springs, Lonyili Rock Tour
Brighten your morning with a mouthwatering breakfast meal at the lodge, followed by a tour of Kanangorok hot springs. This is an adventurer’s hike in the northeastern part of Apoka, a short distance from south Sudan borderline. The rock boiling waters hits at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius, at about 1 liter per second. To the local natives, this is a ritual ground. You will be told the stories, and take photos, followed by a Lunch break. The evening will be for hiking Lonyili rock, where you will relax, enjoy the sunset views, identify birds, and other primates that find refuge here. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day6: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After Breakfast, you will check-out of the lodge for a transfer to Uganda’s largest and oldest national park, with the world’s most powerful waterfall-Murchison fall. This is a journey of about 6-7hours, with Lunch at Gulu city, sight of dotted homesteads, and local native smiles. You will proceed to the lodge for check-in, refreshment, dinner and a peaceful nap.
Day7: Morning Game drive and Afternoon Boat cruise To the Base of the fall
Start the day with a cup of coffee. Thereafter, morning game drive, where you get to identify the different hunters, and grazers in the wild. Just in addition to those seen In the Kidepo, you should hopeful for a sight of the hard to find, such as the lions and leopards. Seeing a kill, or birth can be a trip bonus. Other animals you have a chance of encountering in this 3-4 hour game drive include; African elephants, cape Buffalos, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, water buck, and more; birds such as the crested cranes, geenefowls and Egyptian geese; plants and the savannah landscape.
After game drive, you will have lunch break, followed by a 2-3 hour boat cruise launch to the bottom of the falls where in addition to enjoying the calm waters, there are the Nile crocodiles, school of hippos, aquatic birds, and more to encounter. You will go to a spot for a clear view of the world’s most powerful waterfall, with a deafening sound as it squeezes through a tiny 7 mtr gorge to the Nile. After the photo moments, you will return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day8: Morning Game drive for African Big five Search and Transfer to Kibale Forest NP
Wakeup very early in the morning to catchup with the Big five cats starting their day. These are lions, leopards, elephants and Buffaloes. Whereas it is not guarantee, the sunset provides high chance of encountering them as they emerge from their hideouts. At 10 am local time, you will return to the lodge for breakfast, and check-out for a scenic drive to the primate capital of Africa; Kibale forest national park. It is a 6-7 hour stunning drive, with a stopover for Lunch, and refreshment. You will retire to bed after arrival at the lodge in the evening, awaiting dinner and sweet slumber.
Day9: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest National park And Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Walk to the breakfast table first thing when you wake up. When the intestines are content with what is in, you will go to the park headquarters with your trekking permit for a pretrekking briefing. Chimpanzees are some of the wisest primate species on earth, feeding on fruits, insects and roots. They are accommodative, though have the ability to scare. The sound they make is often sweet to listen to, but don’t imitate to avoid inciting them. The trekking time is 1-4 hours, with hopes of identifying the other primates co-existing in the same haven; birds and plants. Upon finding them, you will be given a one hour allowance to see, take photos, and ask questions.
Afterwards, return to the lodge for lunch, followed by a check-out for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park-the medley for wonders. The Journey time is 2 hours, with the view of rolling hills, mountain back drop and plantations. Get to the lodge for check-in, refreshment, dinner and a nap.
Day10: Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel and Game drive In Queen Elizabeth National Park
Start your day with a cup of coffee. Afterwards, a boat cruise at Kazinga channel for about 2-3 hours. You will be immersed with the great calmness of water, sight of hippos, crocodiles, and aquatic birds. The guide will explain and answer all questions you might be having in regards to the waters. When the session is offer, have a Lunch break and some rest.
At 4pm local time, you will embark on a 3-4 hour sunset game drive, as you uncover how and where the different animals sleep, hope of seeing the night hunters such as the lions, and leopards out of their hideouts, the owls, hyenas, and many more. This evening game drive ends at 19:00 hrs local time, when you will return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and a nap.
Day11: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kalinzu Forest Reserve and Relax at the lodge
Brighten your day with a cup of coffee, and thereafter go for chimpanzee trekking in Kalinzu forest reserve. The ranger guides will usher you to your cousins, explaining how they feed, play and sleep. Chimps are shy, and will keep with their daily activities unless provoked. Time to take notes and photos will be slotted, as you have the chance of spotting other residents of the park. The beauty of the reserve will be unveiled before returning to the lodge for refreshment, a free evening, dinner and a peaceful nap.
Day12: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for chimpanzee trekking at the magical Kyambura gorge. The expert guides will welcome and brief you on the trekking dos and don’ts, and then accompany you for an encounter with the chimpanzees and other primates. Nice to watch chimpanzees communicate, play and feed. They feed on leaves, fruits, stems, and insects. The best of the sight will be seeing them pick something from the ground, or climbing a tree. It is an amazing moment with them in the Jungle, as you take photos, and listen to the explanations from the ranger. A call it a day and return to the lodge for Lunch.
Later, you will embark on a Journey to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park; one to the endangered mountain Gorillas. The mountain Gorillas are only found in the continent of Africa, with Uganda being a host to half of the total population. End this day with dinner and a peaceful nap.
Day13: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
Start your day with a cup of coffee, and then head to the park headquarters for a pre-trekking briefing where the ranger guides will verify the trekking documents, and break down the trekking dos and don’ts. After words, head to the Jungle, first visiting the place the apes were lasts spotted, and then to where they are expected to be. Gorillas live in groups call family; led by a silverback, with silver-like lining at the back. The trekking session lasts for approximately 1-8 hours, depending on ones trekking speed, as well as where the apes have moved. Upon locating them, you will have one hour of photography, and asking questions in regards to the life of these cuisines that possess over 98% human like DNA. After the trekking exercise, you will depart Bwindi for Lake Mburo National park; a journey of about 6-7 hours, with Lunch enroute and the views of the landscape, plantations, and busy towns. End your day with dinner and a peaceful nap.
Day14: Morning Walking Safari in Lake Mburo National park
Wakeup fresh, and ready to face the day. Breakfast will be served, followed by a walking safari for about 3hours, while identifying the different animals here notably; the zebras, Uganda Kobs, Buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, elands, impalas, and more. A walking safari is one sure way of drawing closer to the Mother Nature, uncovering the wilderness, and physical exercise. With the guide explaining whatever you seek to understand, the walk is very safe, and rewarding. After Lunch, the evening hours will be for watching the birds, enjoying the serenity of the place, and relaxing. Dinner and overnight make the end of the day.
Day15: Transfer to Entebbe and Departure
After breakfast, you will hit the road to Entebbe international airport; a 4-5 hour scenic drive, with an enroute stopover at the equator. Equator is an imaginary line that divides the earth into two, and can only be found in thirteen countries in the world, diving the earth into two. Lunch will be in Kampala, and then an afternoon arrival at Entebbe which is the agreed drop off point.
