The best time of the year to consider embarking on Tanzania birding tour is around November and April. It is during this period when several of Palearctic and intra-African migratory avifaunal species can be spotted. Most migratory birds can be spotted around November and May.

The best time to visit Tanzania to witness the Serengeti NP migration is around June to early September. Calving season –the perfect period to observe wildebeest and their newborns is around December, January to February.

The advantage of visiting Serengeti during calving season is that you have a higher chance to observe predators as they also hunt for the calves.
