Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: A road trip to Volcanoes National Park via Musanze / Ruhengeri route
Meet your driver guide after a hefty breakfast and you will get briefed about your memorable Rwanda-Tanzania safari. Leave your hotel for Volcanoes National Park, 2-3 hours’ drive to Musanze. You will have a relaxed day at the lodge and putting everything ready for your next day’s gorilla trek.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park & visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
Following a delicious cup of tea/coffee, assemble at Kinigi area where the park warden will brief you about gorilla trekking regulations. All guests will be assigned gorilla groups before they set off for actual trek at 8:00am. Have some snacks and bottled water to keep you fit, this being unpredictable adventure.
You will wind through the park’s lush bamboo, valleys in search of mountain gorillas with an experienced guide. The day trekking with Rwanda gorillas lasts for 2-6 hours inclusive of an hour in the presence of these apes, taking pictures and more. After the special moment with the great apes, begin returning to your lodge for relaxation till evening when you will pay a visit to Iby’Iwacu Village.
Day 3: Drive back to Kigali from Ruhengeri, city tour
After a hot cup of tea/coffee, you will depart for Kigali driving off from Ruhengeri area in the Northwestern Rwanda. Within 2-3 hours, you will be at Kigali where you will proceed with a guide for a city tour. This involves visiting the Gisozi genocide memorial centre, craft shops and after, you will be transferred to the airport where you will fly to Tanzania.
Day 4: Arusha to Serengeti by safari car
At leisure, enjoy the best of your breakfast and later, start your wildlife expedition to Serengeti NP. Located in the Northern circuit, Serengeti is your key area for you to witness the best of Tanzania migration. There will be lunch en-route and on arrival at the park, embark on a game drive expecting to encounter diversity of wildlife like hyenas, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, and more. The rest of the evening, you will be for relaxation and sharing great moments at the lodge.
Day 5: Full day in Serengeti (Great Migration & Big 5)
Begin your day with a heavy breakfast and after, embark on an unforgettable Tanzania migration experience through Serengeti National Park. The great migration is Serengeti’s key safari highlight where millions of wildebeest accompanied by 1000s of other grazers embark on a journey in search of pasture. This is a once-in-a lifetime experience and also allows you come across the big 5 game including cape buffaloes, lions, leopards, rhinos, and elephants.
Day 6: Serengeti –Ngorongoro Crater (Game drive with an expert)
Depart from Serengeti Game Park to Ngorongoro Crater and you will have great moment exploring cheetahs, lions, elands, African bush elephants, jackals, kobs, zebras, black rhinos and birds. After the game drive, you may also proceed to the nearby community to explore more of local’s unique cultures and traditions.
Day 7: Departure
A morning game drive will be enjoyed as you exit Ngorongoro and today, you will catch up with early risers including spotted hyenas, and big cat families. After, proceed to Arusha and you will be dropped off at the airport or hotel.
